Happy National Black Cat Day! [October 27th]
Posted by Sandy on Oct 27th 2022
National Black Cat Day is here! It falls just before Halloween each year, when black cats are seen everywhere in spooky imagery and decor. Anyone who has or has had a black cat knows they are very special kitties. Some look like they are wearing tuxedos, some are all black, and some have faint stripes when the sun reflects their coats.
It’s hard for me to believe, but I’ve read that black cats (and their canine counterparts) have lower adoption rates than other more colorful options. Our cat Licorice has one thing to say about that...
I’ll translate:
“Pffffffffffffft!”
She’s not having any of it. And, she’s tired of the bad rap. Licorice and I cross paths all the time and neither of us is worse for wear.
Licorice has a couple of white tuxedo like spots as well as beautiful, faint black and brown stripes when she’s basking in the sun.
Be sure to also celebrate the amazing chat noir in your life on August 17 each year on National Black Cat Appreciation Day. Although, I’m guessing that if you’re reading this, you appreciate your black cat every day. I know I do!
